vintage pink for a brand new baby

A couple weeks ago on a group camping trip a friend of mine and I were chatting about refinishing her dresser for her babe on the way.  She's not new to refinishing furniture, and I love chatting about paint! Fast forward a week and a half and she sent me an SOS text.  When you're nearly due, painting in the sweltering heat, and having possible pre-labour contractions, things weren't working the way she wanted and she needed a little help.  I told her I was either driving to her town to help her or she could bring it here for me to do! We want baby to stay safe and healthy until her due date!

She had refinished the top and she did a really beautiful job!  The body of antique dressers can sometimes be miserable, and high heat temps can play a huge role in how paint levels and dries.  And if you've ever had a baby, you know pregnancy can affect absolutely everything!!

The colour she chose was a mix of Vintage Cupcake and Vanilla Frosting from Country Chic Paint, in about a 1:3 ratio.  It's so pretty! It's a soft and creamy vintage pink, and on this style of antique dresser it's stunning.

I sanded lightly and then sprayed two coats of the custom mixed blush for a nice smooth and even finish.  To seal it I used three coats of Clear Coat.  What I love about Country Chic Paint is that their products are tested by a third party to ensure that they are eco-friendly and contain zero VOC's.  They even post the reports publicly on their website.  Their paint carries the industry standard of being able to be used on children's toys too! Read more about that here.  So you can rest assured that the pieces you refinish for your little ones are safe!

This mama is getting ready to welcome their third baby and first girl, which is so special! I can't wait to see what her nursery looks like when it all comes together, and I am so happy I could help refinish this piece for her!

To find out more about how safe Country Chic Paint is and to read their paint test reports, visit their website, www.countrychicpaint.ca! They list the Material Safety Data Sheets for each of their products here. Amazing! I know you'll love their paint as much as I do, so feel free to use code FARM10 for 10% off your order!
